Zombie Flick?

26Oct09

So I just finished watching this movie called “Deadgirl”. As you can see from the poster this movie comes from the producer of Heathers and Hellraiser, which are both great films (I have not seen Heathers but I hear only good things).

The main plot of the story is that two high school kids find this girl locked in the basement of an insane asylum who cannot die. That’s pretty much it.

The movie starts, it goes through, and it ends. There’s nothing unnecessary in this film and it makes it great. There’s a lot of blood though, for you gory movie lovers. Though it’s not in great amounts. Guts exploding, flying body parts, blood everywhere. The lighting is great, the music is great (opens with “For Reverend Green” by Animal Collective and ends with a song from “The Other Side of Mt. Heart Attack” by Liars), for the most parts it’s beautiful arrangement of ambient soundscapes and piano, even in the most intense moments of the movie. I would have to watch this movie again to comment on the cinematography in detail but it’s good, and it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.

This movie is genius, you can’t classify it into one genre. AND there’s no definite beginning and no end, I guess like cloverfield is the most popular reference I could make right now.

Plus there’s a great twist at the end, which makes it all the more fun.

Interpret the poster and you’ll get a better idea of what this movie is about. I would give it two thumbs up. I would definitely recommend this movie.

Check out the trailer below.
